How to Keep Your New Year’s Resolution

Reasonable goals! We understand that you want to start a fitness program by jumping in with both feet. But we’ve found that the best way to stay on track towards a fitness goal, is to take small steps. Instead of making a goal that you’ll work out everyday, set something smaller, like 3 times a week. If you stick with it for a week, then add a day. Increase your workouts slowly, so you don’t let yourself down and give up. If you work up to your fitness goal over several weeks, you’re more likely to STAY WITH THE PROGRAM!

  • “Baby Steps” – Work up to an overall goal by making smaller, attainable goals, to get there.
  • Motivation Strategies – Keep a log or track your workouts so you can see hard proof of your work.
  • Rewards – Everytime you meet a small goal – treat yourself! Just make sure the treat doesn’t get you off track,…if your goal is to lose 10 lbs., don’t go splurge on a chocolate cake. Rather, try going to the movies or buying yourself something you’ve wanted for awhile.
  • Forgiveness – If you make a mistake, if you fall off your program,…forgive yourself. Don’t let it make you feel like a failure. Pick yourself up and continue. It happens to everyone.
